In soft-science research, the term ‘secondhand noise’ is being increasingly used to describe as that sound experienced by a person who did not produce it or was not specifically produced as per the developmental needs of a person. Such research revelations have led to anti-noise activism. It is being said that the effect of ‘secondhand music’ has the same effect as ‘secondhand smoke’. It is being felt that the secondhand sounds and secondhand noise are needed to be regarded civil rights issues and schools need to be sensitized to the harms the kind of music being played for them and being used to produce copycats.
