According to Kishore (1999), Lok Jumbish project that started in early 1990s saw the mobilization of people to bring community and school closer and participatory management as preconditions to improve and universalize qualitative primary education in Rajasthan through competencies based education and recurrent teacher training with a support system. The paper makes a case for Lok Jumbish Project by dwelling on its various features and processes which turned government primary schools into community based schools to improve learning outcomes of children.
