It has been observed that commonly used straight shaft pens and pencils provide amount of pressure on fine motor muscles and stress in finger joints to about 50% normal children and about 80% children with special needs. Fatiguing of bones, ligaments, and tendons of fingers, hand and wrist affects learning while using writing utensils. Ergonomically designing of pens and pencils mitigates Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSIs) and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) related to the dominant hand and arm (Kishore, 2020)
