Kishore (2019) says that the play activities should begin with free-play for sometime as unconscious joyful learning to induce some perceptual learning, which should be followed by a guided learning session and culminate into cognitive development. If, procedurally used with children with special needs or those with learning disabilities, play becomes a therapy.
