Gopalan, Chandiram, Bhatia, Kishore & Lyngdoh (1998) conclude that media requires to portray girls and women in a positive light by refraining from depicting them in demeaning, degrading, negative, conventional, stereotypical ways. Further, communication has to project women’s needs, views, opinions, problems, aspirations, etc. Also, the solutions to the problems associated with gender, science and technology are an integral part of a much larger agenda – the one that seeks to promote new, more ecological, sustainable and socially just approaches to development including gender equality and women empowerment through technology.
